GETTING INTO S.H.A.P.E. AT VICTORY MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH

As the ministries grew to better serve God and the community, the church was required to build internally and seek out stewardship training in accordance with the scripture. This experience was educational and energizing as the congregation visualized the remodeling of the church architecturally and spiritually. With the spiritual growth Pastor Fowler introduced S.H.A.P.E. which stands for:

  • S - Spiritual Gifts
  • H - Heart
  • A - Ability
  • P - Personality
  • E – Experience

Victory Missionary Baptist Church began S.H.A.P.E. in 2007, so that our new members would have an opportunity to gain a greater understanding about spiritual gifts and how God intends for us to use our gift/gifts He has given us to help build up the body of Christ. It was also a means to help the church place members where the church needed them in the specific ministry they were gifted for. So often members were becoming a part of a ministry they were not gifted for to eventually find themselves discouraged and not understanding why. This resulted in the members returning to the pews and not utilizing the gift/gifts given them by God. Since S.H.A.P.E. classes began nearly 1000 members have attended.

In 2009, the church adopted an expanded its focus toward the VISION and the VOICE of Pastor Fowler. As such, the congregation was allowed to look to God for deliverance through the storms of life while praying for the deliverance of Christians.

The goal for the year was a BREAKTHROUGH, which challenged the congregation on a personal and spiritual level. While the national and local economies remained unsteady, this focus ensured that the positive relationship with God would remain unwavering.

While there were more challenges in 2009, the previous years’ teaching provided a foundation to walk through the storm with the faith that “joy comes in the morning.” By emphasizing power in worship and loving one another, the congregation learned how to better shepherd people with Love and Professionalism as illustrated by the mission: “Seek To Know God, and Make Him Known”
