List and Description of Ministries
Advocacy Ministry
– Provides spiritual guidance and support to the Victory
Neighborhood Service Center; enrich the lives of members
through social and community awareness, establish a
strong spiritual presence in the community and establish
a Mentor Program for at-risk youth in our community.
Announcement Ministry
– Keeps the congregation informed on upcoming events,
programs and calendar changes.
Awana Ministry
- A worldwide organization dedicated to helping youth
from preschool through high school to hide the Word of
God in their hearts.
Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts
–Boys and girls are ministered to with hands on training
in outdoor skills along with instructions in everyday
life.
Celebration Choir
– Provides worship through song at the 9:45 A.M.
service.
Children’s Church
– Geared towards children between the ages of 3-12.
Services are held Sundays at 8, 9:45 and 11:15 A.M. and
are held separate from the general worship service.
Children’s Ministry
– A full orbed ministry geared towards families with
children providing educational, recreational and social
development.
Christian Education
– Responsible to oversee the entire Christian education
of the church.
Christian Theatre Development
– This ministry is an avenue in which church members can
express their creative minds through acting and to
enhance the social aspect of the church through the
genre of the theater.
Church Anniversary
– The annual celebration of the establishment of Victory
Missionary Baptist Church.
Computer Ministries
– Responsible for the maintenance of all church
computers and for keeping the church up to date with new
software.
Counseling Ministry
– Provides support and relief especially to members.
Designed to assist from a Christian perspective.
Deacon Family Ministry
– Assistance from the Deacon in times of crisis,
celebration or counseling.
Deaconess Board
– Along with their husbands, they serve the congregation
through Baptism, preparation and ministry to the
families and friends of Victory in the homes.
Deacon Board
– A group of elected ordained men who assist the Pastor
in servicing the needs of the congregation through
benevolence and both home and hospital visits.
Decorating Committee
– Responsible for overseeing all decorating of the
Church.
Domestic Abuse Ministry
– Promotes awareness of domestic abuse/violence through
religion, education, advocacy, and assist by providing
referrals for shelter, counseling and other necessary
assistance.
Educational Ministries
– Sunday School, Bible Training Unit (BTU), Day Care,
Graduate Level Theological Training, etc.
Evangelism Ministries
– Designed to train the members of our Church to share
their faith with others.
Feeding Program
– A Ministry designed to provide good, healthy food to
those in the Church and community who are in need.
Greeters
– Welcomes the congregation to each worship service and
touch them with the love of God.
Habitat for Humanity
– Helps provide homeownership to people of low income.
Health Education
- Preventive assistance in the form of HIV testing,
blood donations, eye exams, health seminars, etc., to
the community and the church.
Historical Committee – Responsible for updating and
keeping accurate documentation on the history of the
Church.
Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU)
- Designed to provide our high school students, grades
9-11, the opportunity to explore and experience higher
education in institutions of academic excellence.
Home Bound Ministry
– Maintains contact of members who live alone and are
unable to attend church worship.
Hospice Ministry
– Ministry of comfort and compassion for dying people.
Hostess
– Greet visitors, thank them and let them know they are
appreciated for attending our worship service and make
them as comfortable as possible.
Jail/Prison Ministries
– Sharing God’s love with the imprisoned through
evangelism, correspondence, counseling, Bible study and
mentoring.
Job Assistance Ministries
– Assisting members and non-members finding employment.
Keenagers’ Ministry
– Assists the senior members of the church to become
actively involved in their church and community.
Laymen Ministries….Brotherhood/Men’s Day
– Empower men and young boys through full developmental
rites of passage programs.
Marriage Counseling
– Strengthening marriages of all ages and providing
pre-marital counseling and mentoring programs.
Media Ministry
– Provides audio & visual aids for all services and
special events.
Men’s Ministry – Uplift and support the men of Victory,
our community and the city.
Ministers
– Provide preaching assistance to the church and senior
pastor. Also provide assistance in spiritual guidance
and direction through Bible study.
Minister’s Mate Ministry
– Provides support, fellowship and appreciation to the
spouses of the Church Ministers.
Missions
– Responsible for taking the Gospel to homes and foreign
lands.
Morning Glories
– Provides worship through song at the 8:00 A.M.
service.
Mother’s Board
– Responsible for serving as senior leaders in the
church as it relates to women in leadership. Serve as
role models and performs various duties that assist
young women and girls in developing into Godly women.
Also supervise and prepare Holy Communion.

Parent’s Day Out
– A Saturday where parents may enjoy the day for
themselves by bringing their children to the church for
educational and spiritual activities, games, snacks, and
arts and crafts.
Political Action
– Serves the congregation through voter registration,
political race information, candidate biographical
information and voter transportation. All done in a
non-partisan format.
Praise Dancers
– Interprets worship through dance.
Praise & Worship
– Sings songs of praise and worship during devotion.
Prayer Ministry
– A Ministry of intercessors who offer prevailing prayer
for you 24 hours each day.
Publications
– Responsible for the publishing of brochures,
certificates, booklets, and generally anything that is
geared to the congregation or city in the form of a
publication.
Recreational Ministry
– Involvement through leagues and individual teams.
Revival Ministry
– A special series of evangelistic church meetings,
conducted by and evangelist or minister, hoping to
awaken a renewed spiritual zeal.
Short Range/Long Range Planning Committee
– Assist in moving from one level to the next of the
church’s vision.
Singles Ministry
– Addresses the issues pertaining to Christian singles
such as serving The Body of Christ, celibacy,
preparation for marriage, self-security, being alone
versus being lonely, single parenting, etc.
Sign Team
– Interprets worship through silent communication by
using the body to communicate dramatic and authentic
sign language.
Social Ministries
– Child abuse, homelessness and unemployment.
Speech & Drama
– Designed to help guide and teach youths ages 10-18,
how to express their creative minds through speech and
acting skills and develop positive values.
Step Team
– Interprets worship through intricate stomping and hand
clapping.
Substance Abuse Ministries
– Provides information and resources for anyone who
desires to recover from the addictions of any substance.
Summer Children’s Program
– Provides Christian education in the summer months for
nine months schools.
Sunday School
– Fosters a sense of fellowship and learning through the
classes by helping meet the spiritual and interpersonal
needs of all age groups from toddler years to adults.
The Trumpet
– Victory’s newsletter provides articles, classified ads
and special stories pertaining to the Church.
Track Break Back Yard Bible Club
- Provides Christian education during the track breaks
for twelve-month schools.
Transportation Ministry
– Provides transportation for those in need of
assistance getting to worship services.
Travel Ministry
– Solicits the best prices and accommodating
arrangements for church members when traveling on church
business.
Trustees
– Act as legal consultants. Maintain inventory of all
legal documents pertaining to the Church.
Tutorial Programs
– Offers a place for children of all ages to obtain
assistance in every area of their school work.
Ushers
– Help manage the smooth transition of members and
visitors from their entry into the sanctuary to their
comfortable worship experience and exit from the
sanctuary. They handle their responsibilities in and
efficient manner while remaining spiritually grounded.
Vacation Bible School
– A summer ministry focused on learning about the Bible
through fun and exciting activities, bible stories,
crafts, music and games.
Voices of Victory
– An arena for vocal training and ministry through song
for members 26 and older.
Victory Neighborhood Service
– Provides preparation for post-secondary educational
opportunities and employment for youth 14-21 years of
age, low income, in and out of school youth.
Welcoming Committee
– Responsible for the transitioning of non-members to
members in the Victory family. The ministry continues
contact with new members through the receiving of New
Members Certificates.
Worship Communications
– Provides members access to emergency calls received
during worship service for their immediate attention.
Youth Choir
– Provides an arena for vocal training and ministry
through song for members between ages 13-25.
Youth Ministries
– Works to provide leadership and spiritual guidance to
youth, which fosters the development of a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ, leading towards growth
and maturity in Christian character, church service and
evangelism. |
